I have been experimenting lately with creating abstract photos using a variety of methods, almost all of which involve a long shutter speed.
These two images were created by setting my camera on shutter priority (TV on a Canon), and then selecting a 1/2 second shutter speed. I was riding shotgun in the car and held my camera on the dash. I pushed the shutter release button when it looked like there would be several cars passing. It was just starting to get dark.

The road was bumpy, so the light blurs kind of resemble birds in the photo above.
The photo below is a bit more busy. For it, I extended the shutter speed a bit longer.
