One of the first rules of photography is “don’t shoot into the sun”. However, sometimes the best effect is created when pointing your camera sunward. The above photo was shot while I was standing under a palm tree, shooting straight up toward the midday sun. I like the combinations of colors and textures.
In this photo, I shot at an upward angle toward some colorful Florida fauna. The result is a lens flare spot in the corner and slight light leak around some of the leaves. This look has become very popular recently in photography styling.
One thing to remember is to under expose so that the camera will pick up the detail in the shadows.
