What a difference taking away a little color can make in a photo. The top photo was taken last week while snow covered the ground. I liked the way the tree’s twisted branches contrast against the barn and the red farm implement stands out in the snow. However when I put the shot on my computer, it didn’t pop the way I wanted. So, using the hue and saturation color tool, I removed all blue, cyan and yellow from the picture. I turned up the intensity of the red slightly. The result is the bottom photo.
The picture was shot in JPEG, because I was using a point-and-shoot camera, which doesn’t offer the RAW option. All adjustments were done in Photoshop Elements 10.
